Plants, gardens and pets are all part of our daily living environment, so our staff are not the only ones to greet you with a smile. The residents are the reason I come back every day. They have so many heartfelt stories and experiences that they share. I enjoy serving them everyday and love working at the facility.
The nursing staff themselves are great. The administrative staff is a literal joke. Getting someone to actually answer the phone or return your phone calls is next to impossible as well.

The personnel were very friendly and very helpful. My family was always able to get a latte or do something like that. Of course, COVID was around, so it was sometimes difficult to move around in the facility. I had some friends in another part that I couldn’t go see because of COVID, but that was not the facility’s fault. I was not crazy about the food; it was not that good. The staff was very personable and very prompt to take care of my needs.

The nurses were pleasant, although I was wary about some of the patients that were roaming the halls. My grandmother had a few falls from her bed, so I'm not sure I can comment on the safety or the attentiveness of the staff. Carpet bowling specifically comes to mind. The place smelled like you would expect a nursing facility to smell - whether this can be correlated with cleanliness, I can't speak.Sycamore is what it is. I wouldn't want to spend my time here, but I guess it is a nursing facility above all and not necessarily a vibrant community.

Assisted living or home health care can be more feasible economically, and often as effective, for those who don’t need nursing home-level services. The facility seemed o.k.; I had two family members spend their last days here.

Please please do not take your loved ones here, if I could give this place negative stars, I would. The staff at Caring Heights was very accommodating, but as usual there wasn’t enough staff to take care of their people. The staff that we did have contact with was very helpful. I just felt that it was more of a hospital type atmosphere rather than a home type of atmosphere.

It was impossible to tell this place was Catholic. The staff is exceptional, they are diverse is age, talents and gender. You will hear singing and humming as they deliver trays to those who are not able to go to the spacious dinning areas. They are willing to take the time while passing out the meals to talk with the patients. There are many TV areas and a lovely outside area for the patients who are able to go to these areas. The therapy staff is willing to come back if the patient is sleeping or has company.
On one occasion when I approached the nursing station for help, i was told that my mother was not his patient, and he walked away from me with no eye contact. Another time, I was told by the nurse that she just came back from vacation and was too busy to assist me until later. My family members actually feared for my mother’s safety and her health until we got her out of there. Love this place, My dad is getting the best care here. There are plenty of activities for the residents.
My mother was at ManorCare in Whitehall for 3 weeks until we moved her to another facility for the lack of care and poor treatment she was receiving there. Call bells went unanswered for hours, she was not regularly washed. Although there for IV medication and severe back pain, she was coerced into aggressive physical therapy that caused her increased pain. Some of the nurses and most of the aides were curt, condescending and inappropriate. One nurse told her "This is not a hotel" another said "You’ll do what I tell you to do!" when she was too ill for therapy.
